History
Kings Church International UK (Originally Kings Church) was founded in 1943 by WTH 'Billy' Richards, a former coal miner from South Wales. Today the church is led by Senior Pastor Wes Richards, a former journalist, who joined the staff in 1975 and became the Senior Pastor in 1978.
The South African branch (formally known as Filadelfia) started in 1987. Gert and Lina Erasmus began pastoring the church in 1989. In 2003 two of their daughters married two brothers, sons of Wes and the late Carol Richards. Two years later, Gert and Lina’s son married the sister of the brothers. It was shortly following this union that the church asked Wes Richards, the senior pastor of Kings Church International UK to be their apostolic covering.
On 25th March 2009 the church formally changed their name to Kings Church International. Many of the leaders of the former church spoke of their gratitude for the link with Kings Church International UK and expressed their excitement that the two congregations have now become one.
