Why we need to thank Angus and do what he says
By Pastor Wes Richards
The massive Mighty Men’s conference is a powerful sign of God’s favour towards
South Africa. And the dramatic collapse and recovery of Angus Buchan during
the event itself is a powerful wake up call to make the most of every
moment.
I watched with gratitude and amazement the amazing developments that were
beamed live from Greytown to my home in Windsor, England.
I was moved to tears as I saw around 200,000 South African men from all
races surrendering their lives to the Lord.
I am sure Gher, Corne and others from the Robertson church who made the trek
to KwaZulu-Natal have will have been greatly stirred by the leadership
example, passion and godly challenge of Angus.
He said loud and clear many of the things that we also believe and which we
are seeking to model at Kings Church International. We too agree with his
convictions about:

South Africa
Angus Buchan was very upbeat about the country at a post election moment
when many at home and abroad were questioning the country’s future. He said
that God is powerfully at work in South Africa and that this is a time for
the light of God to shine brightly. God’s people must to arise as
ambassadors of His kingdom.
Angus said he loved South Africa. This is the country that God had called
him to and this is where he was staying to work with God. Every nation that
sees a move of God must have leaders and churches who are committed to
praying, believing and working for change in their nations.
Family life
He challenged each husband to faithfully love his wife and be a great
father to his kids. ‘when you get home, make sure the first thing you do is
get down on your knees before your wife and say sorry for where you have not
served her and tell her it will be different now.’
Being good shepherds
There were tears in the eyes of Angus, particularly on the Sunday morning
after coming out of hospital, as he looked out at the vast crowd. He
challenged all leaders, including pastors and cell leaders, to follow people
up and be good shepherds. ‘be gentle with the flock.’
As I watched Angus I thought of the Great Shepherd who looked and the
multitudes ‘and was moved with compassion because he saw that they were like
sheep without a shepherd.’
This shepherd’s heart, or father heart, is key to the G12 Vision and through
this vision we have a powerful and practical tool to take care of and
disciple multitudes, starting with the thousands all around Robertson.
Living in tune with God
The greatest reason why this Mighty Men’s conference has grown from just
a few thousand to nearly a quarter of a million in a few years is because
Angus and his ministry is very centred on the Lord Jesus Christ rather than
on self or empty religious tradition.
He stresses the need to get right with God made possible through Christ’s
death and resurrection. He insists on the need to live a holy life before
God. He emphasises the call of sacrificial service for God. He shows the
Father’s heart of God. He lives depending on the grace of God.
He values the presence of God and he believes to see the hand of God at work
in our day and generation when we step out in faith for God.
And not least, having thought that his life might have come to an end when
he collapsed, he knows more than ever that each of our lives and times is in
the very hand of God.
Angus Buchan is giving is all for Jesus. So too must all of us.
God bless you all!
